I think there was another thread on this a while back, we run the above index classes at my local track US 41 and they are great. I started in 12.0 and now hope to do 10.0 with the new motor.
Index racing = great competition that is not boring to watch and easy for the average fan to understand. Plus it wont drive you to bankruptcy like heads up.
Most important rule is no electronics, if you have ever watched super comp you know what I mean. Think about how cool the super classes would be with out down track throttle stops.

glad ot hear that there are people out there that like index racing. now would people rather bracket race or index race?I would rather do both because you can't buy back in when you lose in Index Racing.Nobody want to go home early without any money. That why two classes are better than one.;)

We have a once a month heads up program
here in San Antonio.
We run a 5.00 and a 5.80 1/8th class,
and a 9.50,10.00,11.00,12.00,13.00 and
a 14.00 1/4 class.We also have a 7.90 minimum
1/4 class for the long cars to play in.No minimum
on classes you can run, last race 1 guy ran the
5.80,9.50 and 11.00 classes. It is picking up but the
105 degree heat aint helping.
Much rather run index than brackets.

well if enough people mention it maybe the nmra will put some index classes in. poss along with the brackets. i personaly like to run index better then bracket. prob because i don thave the money to run a true heads up class. maybe one day lol. also finding more people are getting turned onto the index thing more.

If i was the NMRA i would put up a poll to really see who all interest in some kind of Index classes.I think they would be surprise of the out come of the poll votes. This could be good for all racer from professionally heads-up class racer to your a average street racer who comes to watch the event could now have a class that he or she feel like their car can compete at this level against some of there professional counterpart.

We have a local Index Series here that supports Outlaw, Pro Mod and Texas Prostock racing. Very competitive and lots of fun. .400 Tree. Always a HUGE Racer (100+) and Spectator turnout.
It could be the dollar beer and dollar hot dogs though. LOL
It's tough racing and the grandstands are packed!
NMRA's Open Comp is fine for me though. Any budget can be competitive.
Index's are easier for newbie's to understand and it looks heads up.
As a driver, I like the thrill of a handicap start. No idea how good my r/t was till I get to the big end and play down there. Second chance at winning down there too if you were a tick late. Heads up is all tree. Late = Loose

I am strong supporter of a few index classes i want an 8.50 class, these classes are getting to fast and to hard for the average racer to keep up, I mean we used to see tons of new racers every year now you see what maybe 5 new racers that run all year

I would love to have index classes, it would really make things more fun, I've always wanted to run a heads up class but didn't have the money to do it, and didn't want to build my car for one specific class, I bet the NMRA and NMCA would get a lot more people racing if they offered some Index Classes like 8.50, 9.0, 10.0, 11.0 12.0

again still no answer or reply about this subject? why?
because nmra doesnt care. if you dont race factory stock or higher, they dont care what you want or how you feel. they just want you to show up and pay the gate fees so they can use your money to pay out to the headsup cars.
ive been trying to get a tbird into the nmca efi index class for years. and they wont do that either. they dont mind seeing 5-6 cars at each event. yet they have another willing and able racer wanting to get in but they wont do it. i didnt bother to ask for it this year because its not worth it they dont care about us 'little' guys the ones that pay for all the big guys winnings.
i usually rejoin nmra each year at the joliet race but i said screw it this year i wont be dealing with nmra/nmca for the 2010 season.

i know that the nmra may not have the resouces to run index classes ontop of bracket classes. i know you cant make everyone happy. but an answer would be nice. some kind of reply. i have been a fan/racer for about 5 years now and love the people that run in the nmra, a lot are very nice people and are great. i dont have the money to run every event(but would love to) but just some kind of reply would be nice. i read alot of these posts and like i said alot of people you cant make happy all the time. and in this thing we call racing your never going to make everybody happy someone will have somehting to gripe about. but ive watched the car counts go down in the last couple of years. cant just be the economy because the other events that i have made are still running strong. nmra please just listed to some of the people on here. some have ligit gripes. just answer some of these posts. i dont htink you can afford to loose anymore people. being the only all ford event doesnt mean you cant wind up like fun ford weekend. nor would i like to see that. just pay some attention to the small people. everybodys money is the same.

Heres a hint... I dont think they care much what the higher up classes have to say either.... ESPECIALLY... looking at the rules changes for several of the classes. I spent two years building and testing a car for H/S that is now obsolite due to new wieght rules, and can not afford to just go out and build another bigger engine... O/C has been asking for one simple thing for the past several years and still has not gotten it.....They may listen tot he SSO or Outlaw 10.5 guys, but that seems to be about it....
Were done... racing only localy this year...

you know, like i said cant make everybody happy. but show you care about what people have to say. you know its to late when there is nobody at the track anymore.
