can i use a x303 cam with my stock heads? they have 1.72 roller rockers, but should i be worried about valve clearance? thanks Dj :confused:

I wouldn't do it with the 1.72 rockers. I've installed that cam in a couple of stock motors with no valve to piston clearance problems but that was with 1.6 rockers. That cam was made to work with 1.6 rockers anyhow. Also, it worked the best in my old motor with it 4 degrees retarded.

trent, with the 1.6 rockers and x-cam what times were you runnin in the1/4? what was your power range? thanks Dj

It's been a while since I had that combo but it ran 12.6's. The car wasn't much, it had a box style intake, x303 cam, '69 windsor heads, Southside traction bars, 4.10 gears, and M&H tires. It was a fun and driveable car. I'm sure with more suspension mods, slicks and a computer like the PMS that motor could have went 11's.
