just picked up a 73 ranchero, my ohio title shows body type as pickup truck, i just got back from getting my plates and i had to get non commercial truck plates,
i would assume it's fine for the class?

nada's guide lists it under trucks nada guide (http://www3.nadaguides.com/Values/ValueTrim.asp?UserID=53071A76FB706&DID=37736&wSec=2&wPg=1205&CategoryId=10&MakeId=1065&Year=1973&ColorId=)

the rulebook says
DynoMax Truck & Lightning class is designed for any year, make, and model Ford trucks using Ford engines only. Dragsters, vans, and roadsters prohibited.

it was also advertised as a truck so i'm assuming it's a truck :)

I can't believe how good a shape that thing is in. I haven't seen one of those forever. Probably not quite as fast as your Lightning huh? Anyway, looks like it should pass to me. Good Luck!

is it from Ohio or down south and what's it have for a powerplant.
If the motor in it isn't big enough a 460 is a easy swap,i had a 78 LTD II that i put a 460 in that big tank ran a best of a 13.26 at 100 mph and was a great sleeper.

i bought it near me in ohio, i think it came from tennessee a year ago or so originally,

it has a 400 in it, so that should be big enough :)

start with a performer cam, intake, carb and work from their, budgets tight now, but i'd like heads and headers too, beefed up tranny, lol

i'd really like to find a tranny to mate to the 400 with overdrive that doesn't require a baumennator or anything

Beefcake: You found you a very nice ride. We discussed your request, and decided that it will be OK for you to run it as a Truck in the open comp format, with the truck class.

See you in Columbus.
