Hi all, my name is Sean Murray, located in Jackson , NJ. I was invited to the event as crew for Matt Williams who is a new racer in ACT Factory Stock. Ive been to drag events before as a spectator and didnt know quite what to expect behind the scenes. I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly and receptive everyone was, I dont think I have ever met a nicer bunch of people. I got to meet a lot of great people including names I have only read about in the past. I realized the name of the game is "hurry up and wait", other than that I had a great time. I congratulate all racers on their victories. I look forward to learning as much as I can and trying to make as many events as I can. Maybe some day I can try and participate as well.

Thanks

Love the NMRA and have been racing here and there with them since 2003. Why is it that the NMRA doesn't want BBF's in any classes but SSO, 10.5, and OC? This is a Mustang all series, but all they seem to want really is sbf stuff. I mean really, how many BBF combos are even left in the big do classes?
I understand that there is the NMCA and that they allow BBF stuff in some of there classes, but why does the Premier Mustang Series in the history of Drag Racing not allow them?
Not looking for bashing. Looking for ligitimate answers to this question. Any opinions or insite would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm running a 3V with KB s/c at 25lb boost. It's static compression is 9.0:1. The ignition is OE. I am spraying methanol/water.

I've been running 104 tuned closed loop. I think we're going to go 110 and tune open loop. Any thoughts or advice? Am I on track? Thanks.

I vote no to return to Zmax in 2011.Reasons listed below, but i will start with the pro's.

Feel free to add your comments or experiences

The things i like about Zmax

1: Its a fantastic looking place from the street.
2: Score boards easy to read(if sweat is not blurring your vision)

The things i dislike about Zmax

1:Making us pre park 1 mile away going over monster truck speed bumps & climbing a hill in an attempt to tear the rear doors off are trailers, just to get a view of the city dump.Boy its hot better drink some water.

2:After being escorted by security under, over & around the entire Concord country side to the cashier.Park, get out & explain in detail 2 or 3 times what you are paying for,get back in truck, bottleneck to the gate meeting more security.Drink more water.

3:Pitted,only to realize that there is no grass,no trees,no shade & the pavement is used as a solar collector for 25 megawatts of power for the Grid in North Carolina.Gotta pee.

4:Its uncomfortably hot,so hot in fact i make it a point not to check out the vendors midway or car show,as i am drinking so much water all i do is go to the bathroom & return to my A/C trailer.Pee & drink another water.

5:No PA system in the pits, what kind of genius said nah, they will here it on the radio static channel 91.1,or the reverb in the stands, lord tundering jesus i could get better reception from a Turnip.Have a water, wait & listen.

6: 1st Time trials, the stageing lanes,ah the crossing guard guy,at first i thought he was flapping his arms to stay cool(like that will work eh).No he wants us to move up one spot & stop.Build a bridge or dig a tunnel, what genius decided to have the spectator entrance traverse the staging lanes to get in.Drink water go pee.

7:After clearing the pedestrian crosswalk, shut car off.Wait for more security to tell us to move up,shut car off.I see smoke,we must be close.Security waves us through & we are told to stop, turn car off.Another security guard, not very happy that we are there racing finally waves us through to the water box. Before burnout commences show security our participant pass, proceed to stage.Gotta pee, holding it in.

8:2nd time trials,it rained orange cones, they are everywhere, now i am more confused than ever,i don't know about anyone else but i drive on the right hand side of the road(always). No lets pretend we are on the M20 in europe & to make it more entertaining we will park vehicles up against the left lane to create 78 blind spots for the racers. After clearing crosswalk customs border & security more orange cones, are we that dumb or are they. Now we can't open our doors without knocking over an orange cone & pissing off the nazi security guys.Drink water.

9:Its hotter & security is tighter than a rubber band during castration,i don't know if i am sweating from the heat or the fear of looking the wrong way at these guys(no a race a for you).Drink water,i fear dehydration at this point.

10: Concession stand, need ice, skin is falling off.No sir we don't have any,we might get some not sure i was told, buy a $3.00 water return to pits.See guy on golf cart selling melting ice, great how much,$15.00 he replied,i only wanted one bag,how much for one bag $15.00 he said.I told told him where to shove that ^$%*&# frozen H20 & not come back buy my pits, scam artist.Go pee.

11: Its white hot now,my bodys core temperature now emits enough heat to light a cigarette, great lets put on a fire suit, roll up the windows & go racing.Drink water & go pee.

12: Water taps no where to be found, but i found the VP fuel station ok.No security but lots of cattle fencing to guide you in.Gotta pee, washroom 1.375 miles away.

13: Vp fuel 109 unleaded $50.00 for a 5 gallon pail.
Ice $15.00 per bag @ 20lbs
60 lbs of ice = less than 6 gallons of water = $45.00
VP 109 fuel is the same price as frozen water at Zmax

14: The best thing to come out of Zmax is Bruton Smith Blvd.

Aside from all the above, all the racers & NMRA staff were great. This place does not deserve NMRA/NMCA business.

My first event was @ Zmax. I'm not sure what to say about it. I was only able to attend on Sunday. First thing was the safety response from Zmax. The response for the Nesbitt mess was pretty bad initially but as most people have said it didn't look like anything unusual happened. But a car sitting in the middle of the track you would think would be removed quickly as up to that point eliminations were pretty tedious. Earlier in the first round they let a pair go as a car was stalled up agianst the wall before the turnoff lane?????????? The Zmax crew seemed a little disinterested to me. Maybe they don't think that this event will happen again next year. First round of eliminations was kind of a joke as there were so many solo runs that I felt bad for the poor suckers who were eliminated because they actually had to race someone. I signed up to join the NMRA but I'm not sure I'll get registered as I filled out the little piece of paper and handed it over to a guy who didn't put a date or any initials on it. Most organizations I've seen at the strip usually give you a free copy of the latest magazine when you sign up. That part was very unprofessional to me. Now I'm going to chalk this up to the event getting off to a slow start or having a bad day. But I have to say the day was a bit of a disappointment. Except for the UPR guys the vendors seemed like they couldn't care less.

Interior/Paint not important as we can do that ourselves
No real preference on transmission as ultimately the car will get an FI and 5 spd conversion, in fact, a roller would be fine also. The budget will be in the 7-10K range. Not in a big rush but if the right car turned up we could probably move on it pretty quickly. Keep us in mind if you hear of a suitable car.

Thanks!!

Joey died at the young age of 39 and like most of us who don't think about these things he did not have a life insurance policy. Ryan, Stacy and some family members have been covering the costs of everything thus far but as everyone knows these things are expensive. So we are accepting donations towards Joeys services for anyone that would like to contribute in lieu of flowers.
Donations can be sent via paypal to me at md162@aol.com
People who he has done work for will note the time and effort that is put into every job he does from full builds to gear swaps.
With that being said… we have learned this week that Jimmy has been unfortunately diagnosed with Leukemia. His brother-in-law has asked me to put up a post on his behalf…
Though I have heard of Leukemia, I have never known anyone to have this form of cancer. It is with great sorrow that I would like to inform everyone that Jimmy Chahalis has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Jimmy is a loving father, great brother-in-law and an amazing friend. As he begins his road to recovery, he will be in the hospital for at least the next 3-4 months. In knowing Jimmy, though he will never ask for help, he is thinking about how he will be able to support his family during this time, and further more how much the medical bills will be. I have told Jimmy to focus on his treatment and not to worry about anything. It is for this reason that I am reaching out to everyone… family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, etc. for your prayers and for any donation you can make. Anything you can spare: $1, $5, $10… even a gas card for his wife to go back and forth to the hospital will be a tremendous help. The road ahead will be a tough one, but there is no doubt in my mind Jimmy will be back. Please join me in assisting Jimmy and his family through this difficult time.
Vice President and General Manager of Gateway, Terry Harmeson stated, “This was a difficult decision in light of the many years of earnest and continued efforts on everyone’s part to develop a viable market for these events in one of our nation’s greatest cities. We remain committed to fulfill the balance of our 2010 schedule including our October 23rd NASCAR Nationwide race which will provide our fans the opportunity to see Danica Patrick compete here for the first time. We also plan to explore various ways to change the economics at Gateway both from the revenue and expense side.”

Denis McGlynn, President & CEO of Dover Motorsports, stated, “We have a group of extremely dedicated and talented employees who make Gateway a great destination and we deeply appreciate all the support we have had from the racing community over the years – from racing fans and drivers to sponsors, team owners and sanctioning bodies. However, economics dictate that we evaluate all of our options for this facility, including its possible sale.”
