NMRA TV & NMRA Racing Forum - Frequently Asked Questions
NMRA TV & PowerTV Frequently Asked Questions
NMRA TV and powerTV are official sponsors of NMRA Racing.com and are a supporter of this forum. We post this message to answer frequently asked questions about NMRA TV and powerTV that users or moderators might wonder about our videos that we produce, and/or the video network that we broadcast online. You can view the web sites at: NMRA TV and powerTV powerTV is an online network of automotive enthusiast videos. From online TV shows like NMRA TV to powering the user generated videos that are on many forum communities like the Corral or AllPar, powerTV helps bring video content to millions of automotive enthusiasts every month. First, some background on powerTV and NMRA TV. powerTV was founded in 2006 by James Lawrence and 3 other people: Eric Schumacher, Melissa Lawrence, and Kevin Mcintosh. The powerTV idea was an online video/TV network (just like SPEED channel) for the automotive industry that does 2 major things.
Currently powerTV produces five online TV Shows/Video Magazines:
We do use the same network TV model to run our show as does Horsepower TV, Two Guys Garage, Pimp My Ride, etc. A majority of our show content is complete 100% editorial (car features, interviews, most events, car shows, tech features, video blogs, etc.) but we do accept sponsored product placement. What this means is that a company might pay for placement with some editorial coverage on 2 different powerTV videos/shows. That does not mean is that the video or coverage doesn't have any editorial merit, but it does mean that company will get coverage of it's products. It is a blend of editorial and advertising. It is considered fairly standard with automotive TV shows, and we retain editorial control over the show, but the company by virtue of the agreement does get a guarantee of coverage of their products. Now, the majority of our tech coverage is just that - tech editorial and dyno testing. As well, all of our video blogs, most of the event coverage, car features, interviews, etc are 100% editorial. We are able to stay in business through 30-second TV commercials, paid placement, and display ads (banners). One of the things that we do is that we post videos that we've filmed of many different kinds of content, including events, tech features, car features, Race Crankers, SEMA coverage, and other different videos on different forums in the video sections (if available). We always try to post relevant videos to forums that would be interested in those videos - say Mustang racing coverage to a Mustang forum, or SEMA coverage, or a tech video video, etc. Do companies pay powerTV to promote videos? There are videos that might include sponsored content, but we are not paid to post them on a forum. However, we might post a video if we have a specific arrangement with a forum or if the company involved was a forum sponsor. In all cases, the only thing we post is a video we think might be interesting or relevant to the forum. What about the user uploaded videos.. can I upload a video? You are free to upload a video to powerTV by clicking the upload button on a powerTV video channel. This video remains your property but you are able to share it just like you would a YouTube video. What if I want to contact powerTV? You can send us an e-mail by clicking here and filling out the contact form. We'll promise a response. |
