BBK Performance Named Sponsor of Spring Break Shootout Eliminator

Longtime Mustang parts manufacturer and distributor BBK Performance has been named title sponsor of the legacy street car shootout category Spring Break Shootout. It is a class that bears the name of the event and is comprised of the 16 quickest cars from the final rankings in the TorqStorm Superchargers True Street class. The NMRA Spring Break Shootout takes place at Bradenton Motorsports Park March 3-6, 2022.

“The Spring Break Shootout was created in 1995 by our own Jim Campisano and his staff at Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine and it is still a big attraction for street cars across the country and Canada,” said Rollie Miller, National Event Director and General Manager of the Holley NMRA Ford Nationals. “Adding BBK Performance as the sponsor shows the category’s legacy and prestige as the longest running heads-up street car class in drag racing.”

The NMRA Spring Break Shootout is the first event on the 2022 NMRA Ford Nationals schedule and this year several 7-second cars will be getting in on the street car action. Defending champion Donato Sierchio is returning with his twin turbocharged Fox Mustang coupe and he will be in good company. Fellow New Jersey resident Mike Jovanis is back in action with a new DiSomma Racing Engines 423ci Windsor engine and looking to add a 12th True Street title to his collection and his first Spring Break Shootout win. Canada’s Ted Roshan is making a return to NMRA after missing the last few years due to the pandemic with his 7-second 2003 Mustang Mach 1. Local hot shoe and longtime True Street racer Larry Albright is aiming to improve on his 2021 runner-up finish with his turbocharged Fox Mustang hatchback.

The TorqStorm True Street category takes place on Saturday with its 30-mile cruise and trio of drag strip runs that are averaged together and ranked. Entry into the Spring Break Shootout is exclusive to the Top 16 finishers in True Street. Heavy-hitters in the drag racing world were born from the Spring Break Shootout/True Street categories, including Mike Murillo, Dan Millen, Sean Lyon, and many more. True Street racers also have the opportunity to qualify for the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout, which picks the quickest eight vehicles with a manual transmission from the True Street finishers and runs in a staggered start/no breakout format on Sunday.

Street cars and championship drag racing invade the NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Bradenton Motorsports Park March 3-6. Also highlighted at the event is the appearance of the Original Bigfoot 4X4 monster truck and huge UPR Products Car Show. For more information and advance tickets, visit www.NMRAdigital.com
