Born To Burn—E3 Spark Plugs

Internal combustion requires fuel, air and a spark and E3 Spark Plugs has been helping to power winners in a wide range of motorsports, including drag racing at many levels. E3 produces plugs for a wide range of performance applications, from the 5.0L Coyote to NHRA nitromethane-burning Top Fuel engines.

Supercharging and turbocharging are common modifications with Ford owners and E3 makes a specific plug for boosted Coyote engines. The E3.112 plugs are a 14mm, 1-inch reach tapered seat spark plug specifically designed for high hp boosted (turbo, nitrous or supercharged) applications in the Ford Coyote or Chrysler Hemi engines. The plug features E3’s patented diamond-shaped ground electrode for maximum combustion and edge-to-edge spark, as well as a resistor to keep stock electronics functional.

The result of independent research and testing suggests that using E3 car spark plugs in your vehicle can increase horsepower when compared to more conventional spark plugs. “Our patented Edge-to-Edge ground electrode outperformed other plug designs, including premium spark plugs offered by the major manufacturers,” said Rob Fisher of E3. “Plus the good news is E3 automotive spark plugs will continue to offer that ‘like-new’ performance over the long haul and help to extend the life of your car's engine. This means less money out of your pocket.”

Developed in conjunction with researchers from leading universities, E3 designed its car spark plug to create a faster flame front, so the unburned air-fuel mixtures that would normally pass into the engine's exhaust system experience a more complete burn.

To accomplish this, E3 automotive spark plugs utilize the patented DiamondFIRE ground electrode to get the flame (or combustion process) started earlier in the combustion chamber before gas is vented off when the exhaust valves open. Although results may vary dramatically based upon piston displacement and operating conditions, increased combustion efficiency and a faster burn allow E3 equipped engines to minimize the venting of unburned (wasted) fuel.
