Continuing Traditions JLT Performance Backs Spring Break Shootout Class at NMRA Season Opener

Posted By: Mike Galimi
The Mustang drag racing season always kicks off with the booming Nitto Tire Spring Break Shootout at Bradenton Motorsports Park, this year it goes down February 27 through March 1. The event's humble beginnings date back to 1995 and it was an assembly of quick street-legal Mustangs with a party to go along with it. Some 24 years later that notion still holds true and JLT Performance is back again to keep the tradition alive and well. The JLT Performance Spring Break Shootout class is a heads-up Quick 16 format race that will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2020. The Spring Break Shootout race will be open to the quickest 16 cars that finish in QA1 True Street on Saturday, February 29th. To be eligible for the Spring Break Shootout class, competitors must meet True Street rules, compete in the True Street class on Saturday, and make all three True Street passes. The 16 competitors who have the fastest 3-pass averages will be placed on a sportsman ladder and will race heads-up on a 4/10 Pro-tree. The winner of the Spring Break Shootout will take home $800 cash, receive a prestigious Victor trophy, get to celebrate in the Aerospace Components Winner's Circle, and own the bragging rights as the class champion for one year. As a bonus Baer Brakes is tossing in a set of SS4+ brake kit to sweeten the pot and it is valued at around $1,000. Last year the QA1 True Street field saw 135 Mustangs and other Fords take to the streets of Bradenton, Florida to prove their street worthiness. In the end it was Canadian racer Jeff Bloem who took the Overall True Street victory and ultimately walked away with the title in the JLT Performance Spring Break Shootout class.
