One of NMRA G-Force Racing Transmissions’ favorite jokers, Carlos Sobrino, was involved in a scary wreck while racing at the Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings event at Pennsylvania’s Maple Grove Raceway in May. Sobrino’s Fox body Mustang was doing its thing in the Small Tire class when the car broke loose and violently slammed into the right-side retaining wall before bouncing across the track and doing the same thing on the left side as well.
Sobrino was transported to the hospital where it was determined he had sustained multiple injuries including a broken back. Fortunately, surgery to repair the damage went well and Sobrino is expected to make a strong recovery. Similarly, Justin “Lil’ Country” Swanstrom was racing at the same event when a fuel line came loose and caused a massive fire under the car. As he pulled the ‘chutes, David Adkins’s C7 Corvette broke loose in the opposing lane and made contact with Swanstrom’s Lexus. Both drivers walked away unscathed, but Swanstrom’s Lexus burned nearly to the ground as fire crews were not able to quickly respond to the incident.
