EATON TVS Throwdown Returns to NMRA/NMCA with New Location and Revised Rules

Posted By: Mike Galimi
Last year NMRA/NMCA worked with EATON Corporation to create a category to celebrate its highly successful Twin Vortices Series (TVS) supercharger technology. The TVS Supercharger Throwdown kicked off with super fast street cars doing battle on the quarter-mile. In 2020, the TVS Supercharger Throwdown returns with a new set of race rules and a new location during the biggest street-legal drag race in the world the Nitto Tire NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing, which goes down July 30 through August 2, 2020 at the famous Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. Lingenfelter PerformanceThe rules are simple, if your vehicle relies on a late-model engine (GM LS/LT, Ford Mod Motor, or Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep Gen III HEMI) and utilizes an OEM or Aftermarket TVS-based supercharger'regardless of manufacturer then it's eligible for the EATON TVS Supercharger Throwdown. All racers will get a series of test-and-tune sessions leading up to Saturday's timed event, which will have three designated qualifying sessions. NMRA/NMCA officials will average the three qualifying runs together to establish a competitor's average time. Those average times will be listed with cash and awards presented to the racers who have the quickest 9-second ($500-to-win), 10-second ($500-to-win), and 11-second ($500-to-win) averages. In addition to those three time zone winners the Overall Quickest TVS Supercharged car in competition will be crowned the winner ($1,000-to-win) along with a runner-up finisher ($500-to-win). Expanding on the new ranking system will be Quick 4 heads-up race on Sunday. The heads-up competition winner walks away with a TVS supercharger of choice from one of EATON's technical partners (Edelbrock, Harrop, Magnuson Superchargers, or ROUSH Performance) and a custom TVS-themed award built by SuperchargersOnline.com. The runner-up walks away with $500 while the two semifinalists get $250 each. The TVS Supercharger Showdown brought some awesome cars to the NMRA/NMCA event last year. Building on that base and the core street market it serves, we have a new format this year to reach the entry-level racer to the hardcore street car racer, shared Rollie Miller, National Event Director for NMRA and NMCA.
