Last month Ford Performance showed off its latest drag race creation, the Cobra Jet 1400 and it is an electrified version of his famous OEM drag vehicle. The company is bringing the one-of-a-kind Cobra Jet to the NMRA World Finals + Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival October 1-4, 2020 at Beech Bend Raceway. The 8-second Cobra Jet 1400 will be making exhibition passes and special match races with its gasoline-powered sibling. The Cobra Jet 1400 has produced 1,502rwhp during development that is more than three-times the output of a factory 2021 Mustang GT. The electric-powered Cobra Jet has run a best of 8.27 at 168 mph. Ford Performance collaborated with Cascadia Motion and the vehicle uses four PN-250-DZR inverters that is paired with two DS-250-115s. The motor-inverter packages run at 800 volts and up to 700 amps, with a maximum of 350kw per motor according to a recent press release from Ford Motor Company. Ford Performance worked with AEM EV for data and control systems, which required a custom setup for the Cobra Jet 1400. The Cobra Jet 1400 joins a long list of special features built into the biggest Ford motorsport event of the year, the NMRA World Finals + Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival at Beech Bend Raceway over the weekend of October 1-4, 2020.
