Friday Coverage | 2022 PRI Show

The PRI Show started strong yesterday with a huge turnout of attendees at the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. After warming up its engines, the show hits its stride today with more seminars, celebrity signings, and the usual trade show business. 
 
Naturally, we are back at it combing the aisles to see what innovations might make their way into vehicles at our events next season. Of course, as the show ends today, the action is just getting started as the Holley NMRA Ford Nationals and Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals celebrate the 2022 Champions and Top 10 finalists at the annual awards ceremonies.
 
We'll have more from the show tomorrow, but until then, here is some of the hot hardware we spotted in the Circle City.

Speaking of champions, Samantha Moore’s JDM Engineering Limited Street Mustang is holding court in the Frankenstein Engine Dynamics booth at the PRI Show. She runs one of the company’s billet intake manifolds atop the Coyote engine in her dominant S197 pony. Frankenstein offers several Coyote upgrades, including intercooled and non-intercooled versions of its beautiful intakes.
 
Brian Tooley Racing enters the Godzilla chat with a version of its popular Trinity intake manifold for Ford’s pushrod 7.3-liter engine. The intake features a short-runner, three-piece design that allows adaptability and optimizes performance at the top of the tach for naturally aspirated and boosted applications.

If pushing the performance of Bow Tie small-blocks is your thing, M&M Competition Engines created this 1Spec Evolution cast-iron small-block Chevy block built to support big power. Available with 9.025 and 9.325 deck heights, it features a raised cam, a wide pan rail, and extended main and head stud bosses. It can be had with 4.4- or 4.5-inch bore spacing and with a one- or two-piece rear main seal. 

As we mentioned in Thursday’s coverage, Fluidampr has a new crank damper for Ford’s Godzilla engine. It is showcased in their booth on a detailed display engine from Paul’s High Performance. If you look closely, however, PHP has also developed a modified oil pan and pickup system that gives the pan a lower profile for swaps and optimizes the oil pickup for drag-racing g-loads.

Coming in January, JMS updated its CD-1 ignition box to near bulletproof status. Main man Chris Johnson says he can’t kill it. While durable, it still sports all the features, like rev limiters and 135 mJ spark output, that racers expect.

If big-block Ford muscle is more your style, Pegasus Engineering showed off these billet Assassin big-block Ford cylinder heads. Designed for intake flow as high as 540 cfm as-cast and 615 cfm ported and exhaust flow as high as 340 cfm as-cast and 395 cfm ported, they are built for a 4.6-inch bore. They can be custom ordered with a range of valve and combustion chamber sizes, they can be paired with the company’s cast, single-four-barrel intake.

For those running modern muscle machines in need of increased fuel flow,  Snow Performance offers a range of its multi-pump fuel hats for Camaros, Challengers, and Mustangs. They support two and three pumps and feature a robust manifold design that eliminates the failure points created by hoses. They are compatible with gas and ethanol and will support four-digit power. 

In addition to its full Apex Predator supercharger upgrades, VMP Performance offers a range of upgrades for the 2020+ Shelby GT500, including these high-flow lids for the factory supercharger. They work well with the stock intercooler, but they also allow installing VMP’s larger, more efficient intercooler core seen at the right.

Many modern vehicles don’t even come with a spare tire and having one just adds weight at the racetrack. Why not make better use of that space if you need a racing fuel system solution? That’s just what Radium came up with in the form of its Spare Tire Fuel Cell.  Designed to fit most spare tire wells, the 10.5-gallon cell features a polymer bladder compatible with all fuel types and it meets FIA and SFI specifications. 

Speaking of modern GT500s, Livernois Motorsports developed this high-flow, carbon-fiber Cold Air Intake for the latest Shelbys. It offers enough flow to support four-digit power but is still compatible with the factory carbon trap element for those looking to retain factory emissions hardware. 

Switch panels are a key part of many race car builds, and Auto Rod Corporation created this sleek Flat Touch Switch Panel. The ARC unit looks great and offers a host of built-in features, like 40-amp replaceable fuses, a 6-second shutoff delay to protect your onboard computers, a neutral safety circuit, a bump-start circuit, and more. 

HPT Turbo continues to expand its F-series line of turbochargers, highlighting the F-3 and F-5 units at PRI. The latter is meant to generate as much as 2,850 horsepower. To achieve that, it features a high-flow, race-style compressor, dual ball bearings, a 310 stainless steel housing, a forged billet compressor wheel, and more. It is available with inducer diameters from 88 to 106mm. The smaller F-3 unit carries many of the same features but delivers up to 1,600 horsepower with inducer sizes ranging from 68 to 84 mm.

Classic trucks are hot fire right now, and for those looking to swap just about any drivetrain into a Ford F-100, Stifflers revamped its transmission crossmember for these trucks to accommodate any of the popular powertrain alignments from straight to offset, making it easier to build the truck how you want it.

K1 Technologies is expanding its line of HD connecting rods for domestic applications, including the popular Ford Coyote engine family. These H-beam rods are bolstered by additional material in critical places to allow for supporting more horsepower than a traditional H-beam design.
