Hull Set to Hightail it in VP Racing Fuels Street Outlaw

Posted By: Mary Lendzion
With a 4.45 and an event win under his belt, Charles Hull has proven that he has a stout combination and is on a hot streak in NMRA VP Racing Fuels Street Outlaw and NMCA Wiseco Street Outlaw. But to ensure that his Vermillion Red Mustang continues to be the formidable force it has been, he recently took his 400 cubic-inch small-block Ford back to Bennett Racing Engines to have it freshened, and to have it set up for a move from a wet sump oiling system to a dry sump oiling system. The Brunswick, Georgia-based driver also hired Pressurized Solutions to fabricate a new intake, and to ensure that the compressed air flowing from the turbo to the intake is cooler, he'll move from a two core intercooler to a four core intercooler, which he's confident will bring the intake air charge temperature down from 78 degrees to low 60s. Hull 2 After his engine is put back into his car, its partner in crime, a 98mm Precision turbo, will be positioned on the driver's side, rather than in the center where it used to be, and while he has reasons for that, he's not sharing them. A new carbon fiber Motor City Solutions front end will be put on the car, which also features an M&M Transmission-built two-speed Turbo 400 and a ProTorque EV converter, and gets from the starting line to the finish line on Mickey Thompson 275 drag radials. If all goes well, I'm hoping for 4.30s, said Hull, who has help in the tuning department from John Kolivas and Justin McChesney of KBX Performance. Hull, who's currently sixth in NMRA VP Racing Fuels Street Outlaw points and ninth in NMCA Wiseco Street Outlaw points, is looking to move up beginning with the 11th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing, July 28-31, 2016 at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois.
