King of the Street class returns to NMRA World Finals

Posted By: Steve Baur
Santa Ana, California (August 15, 2022) The Holley NMRA Ford Nationals series closes out its 2022 season in grand style with the 24th Annual Whipple Superchargers NMRA World Finals Presented by Competition Clutch featuring the Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky. With everything from championship drag racing and drifting exhibitions to a massive car show and an off-road showcase, this extravaganza offers something for any enthusiast. And, thanks to sponsorship support from the transmission specialists at Circle D Specialties, there is another exciting component of the Ford event of the year — the King of the Street Shootout!

“The True Street class has been on the Mustang scene for three decades, and it’s the longest-running class in street-legal drag racing. Drafting the fastest True Street racers at the World Finals for heads-up competition in the Circle D Specialties King of the Street Shootout adds another layer of excitement for the racers and fans,” said Rollie Miller, National Event Director and General Manager of the NMRA Ford Nationals. “It is a great addition to our action-packed NMRA season finale.”

Based on their three-pass True Street average, the top eight NMRA World Finals finishers on Saturday receive an invitation to the Circle D Specialties King of The Street Shootout on Sunday. There they will race heads-up on the eighth-mile to determine the quickest Ford street car on the property.

“We are tremendously excited to partner with the NMRA as the title sponsor for the King of the Street Shoutout at the World Finals this year! Our involvement with this shootout and the NMRA, in general, is one of the highlights of the year for us,” Pete Nichols of Circle D Specialties said.

Class match-ups are determined randomly by chip draw before each round and if there are an odd number of cars, a bye-run chip will determine who makes a solo run.

“Circle D Specialties has a rich history with high-performance and racing-oriented Ford platforms, so our association with this event was just a natural and logical fit for our brand,” Nichols added. “While we are enthusiastic about all platforms, Ford products hold a special place for us. Partnering with the NMRA for this event allows us to be active in a community and branding that we love and give back to a demographic of enthusiasts who have given so much to us over the years.”

The winner of the Circle D Specialties King of the Street Shootout will take home $1,500, while the runner-up will earn $500. For more information on the class and the World Finals event, visit NMRADigital.com.
