Brian Mitchell has been a fixture in the Ford racing community for nearly twenty years, and he has proven his prowess by powering two different Mustangs to six championships in NMRA Edelbrock Renegade. Perhaps most noteworthy is how he went undefeated on his way to the 2013 championship, and went as fast as 8.14 in his 90 Mustang, nicknamed Wizard I, and then 7.70 in his 03 Mustang, nicknamed Wizard II, which were both powered by small-block Fords and Vortech superchargers. He was often at the head of the pack, and he was often claiming top speed and elapsed-time records, but rules changes combined with mechanical issues caused him to turn in a string of off-pace passes in 2014 and 2015. Mitchell 2 After selling Wizard I in 2010 and selling Wizard II in January of 2016, he had planned to retire from racing, but before long, he was tracking down the buyer of Wizard 1, found him in Virginia and bought his beloved car back. It wasn't even for sale, but I made him an offer he couldn't refuse because basically, I couldn't stay retired, said Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania resident Mitchell, whose friend Sean Wiley of Dynamic Converters and Pro-formance Transmission picked up the car and brought it home. Plus, a few months ago, I had a stroke, and after that, I came to the realization that I better get busy living. Mitchell who will call the car Wizard 1.5 because it will be an updated version of Wizard 1 will remove its existing 25.5 cage to make room for a 25.3 cage to be done by a fabricator to be determined, and he'll bring Matt Wirt Racefab Engineering on board to handle all of the suspension work. Brian and Adam He's holding off on making a decision on a powertrain until 2017 NMRA rules are released, but he's aiming for 7.40s and a return to Edelbrock Renegade ranks in 2017, and will build accordingly. When asked which word best describes how he feels moving forward, Mitchell who's been lending a hand to fellow Edelbrock Renegade racer Adam Arndt as of late pauses for a moment, and then says Confident.
