NMRA Ford Homecoming Reunites The Stars & Cars That Helped Build The Series
As the Holley NMRA Ford Nationals series honors its 25th anniversary, the midpoint of the racing season serves as a celebration of NMRA’s past and present. During the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming at Summit Motorsports Park from June 9-11, a series of special reunion events will reunite many of the racers and vehicles that played a pivotal role in the growth of the series.
“After a quarter century of Ford motorsports events, it only seemed fitting to celebrate where the series came from as we embark on a new era of NMRA,” said Steve Wolcott Co-Founder & Owner of NMRA. “Our annual Ford Homecoming event was the obvious place to celebrate the stars and cars from the past while the racers of today continue that tradition on the racetrack.”
Kicking off the nostalgic action in Norwalk, Ohio is the Sticker Dude NMRA Reunion Party in the Pits presented by Edelbrock on Friday evening. Harkening back to some epic celebrations in the pits during the early years of the series, this party will take place in the Granatelli Motor Sports Hospitality Zone adjoined beside the Sticker Dude party courtyard. Hosted by Clarence Barnes, the event will bring together past and present to celebrate with cold beverages, music, NMRA girls and a beer hall.
The party continues on Saturday in the race pits with the Edelbrock NMRA Founders Happy Hour in the Granatelli Motor Sports Hospitality Zone once again. There racers, media, and sponsors from past gather to reminisce and celebrate. Attendees can compete for bragging rights in the Pro Tree Reaction Time Shootout, while guests of honor address the crowd and host Clarence Barnes keeps festivities moving.
Throughout the weekend, the NMRA Reunion will gather racers, media members, and sponsors from the early years of the series along with iconic figures and cars from the early days of Ford racing fostered by the original 5.0 Mustang movement. Expect some epic bench racing about the good old days to occur while today’s racers compete on the historic Summit Motorsports Park racetrack.
Of course, there is much more taking place in Norwalk, as the full NMRA racing program is joined by those reunion events. Fans can also enjoy other features at the NMRA Ford Homecoming, including the awesome UPR Products Car Show. Additionally, NMRA will host a range of events within the event, including the Anderson Composites Off-Road Alley, the Maximum Motorsports All-Ford Autocross, the 40th Anniversary Saleen Reunion, the 2020+ GT500 Shootout, the 30th SVTperformance.com Reunion, the Harland Sharp Fox-Body Reunion presented by Foxy Events, and the TascaParts.com Cobra Jet Reunion.
