NMRA Honors Ford’s Legendary Fox-Platform Machines With Two Epic Reunions

Santa Ana, California (Dec. 12, 2022) — As NMRA commemorates its silver anniversary across its entire 2023 event schedule, two special events will celebrate the vehicles that played a pivotal role in the success of the Holley NMRA Ford Nationals series. Thirty years after the final Fox Mustang model year, two Fox-Body Reunion events are set to honor these historic machines.

“Fox-body vehicles are the foundation of NMRA’s history and they are seeing a resurgence in popularity,” Steve Wolcott, Co-Founder of NMRA, said. “With our series celebrating such a momentous anniversary, it’s fitting to lean into the Fox-body nostalgia at two special events on our 2023 calendar. Celebrating the heritage of the cars that dominated our earliest races will add a special element of nostalgia to these must-attend events.”

Kicking off NMRA’s 25th Anniversary from March 3-5, 2023 the NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Orlando Speed World in Orlando, Florida, will host the first Fox-Body Reunion, while the all-out Fox extravaganza will take place from June 9-11, 2023 at the NMRA Ford Performance Nationals held at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

To fully embrace the Fox community, NMRA partnered with Jennifer Highley of Foxy Events, the promoter behind the massive Foxtoberfest yearly events held each October, to co-host the Fox-Body Reunions.

“NMRA came onto the scene at exactly the same point in time when Foxes, the first heavily modified Mustangs, were dominating at the tracks. I’m excited for the Fox-Body Reunion at the NMRA events because it will feel like we’re recreating an important piece of Fox history,” Jennifer enthused. “The LX coupe, which is the base model, has become the most sought-after Fox models and I believe the drag strips had a large hand in that.”

The two Fox-Body Reunion events will feature celebrities and special cars from the 1979-1993 era that Fox Mustangs ruled, and Fox-platform vehicles of all model years, shapes, and sizes are welcome to participate in the car show, drag racing, and other special features at both events, while the Norwalk event will also include an autocross.

“The Fox community felt a bit forgotten for a while, so having a race event that celebrates this platform like it did in its heyday is going to bring them out in droves,” Jennifer said. “I can’t wait for the smell of race fuel, burnt rubber, and nostalgia to hang in the air.”
