NMRA Revs Up Its Silver Anniversary Season Opener with Foxes & Fun-Havers

Santa Ana, California [12/5/22] — As the Holley NMRA Ford Nationals launches its 25th Anniversary season at the 29th Annual NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Orlando Speed World from March 2-5, 2023, the action will extend from the drag strip to the drift pad. Kicking off the season with a reloaded, festival-style event that brings automotive excitement from the past and present to set the stage for a stellar season.

“With the addition of the Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival, NMRA’s World Finals set the standard for Ford events by delivering a weekend full of non-stop excitement. For our 25th Anniversary we wanted to start the season with that same kind of excitement,” said Steve Wolcott, Co-Founder of NMRA. “To make that happen we teamed up with leaders in the industry to add something for everyone who loves Ford performance.”

Leveraging the full capabilities of Orlando Speed World, the Spring Break shootout won’t just see championship drag racing on the 1,320, but tire-shredding drifting and burnout contests on the drift pad. Bringing smiles to faces in both places on Saturday will be Fun-Havers Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Chelsea DeNofa who will do some drift exhibitions while meeting their fans. They will also participate in other areas of this extra special event. Fun-Haver will also bring out Shane England and his amazing Big Kahuna monster truck.

Vaughn will also bring out his RTR Fox Mustang to participate in the new Fox-Body Reunion in Orlando, which is co-hosted by the force behind Foxtoberfest, Foxy Events, which will bring together special Fox-platform machines, a dedicated car show section, drag racing, Fox celebrities, and more.

“The Fox community felt a bit forgotten for a while, so having a race event that celebrates this platform like it did in its heyday is going to bring them out in droves,” Jennifer Highley of Foxy Events said. “I can’t wait for the smell of race fuel, burnt rubber, and nostalgia to hang in the air.”

Of course, the Spring Break Shootout will offer thrilling drag strip action with a full complement of heads-up and index classes, including the insanely quick Renegade and high-flying Coyote Stock machines. Additionally, the 8.60 Street Race class embarks on its first full season of competition, and a special class brings Ford’s fastest factory Mustangs, the 2020+ Shelby GT500s, together to decide which one is the drag-strip king.

While the always exciting Spring Break Shootout class brings out the quickest street Fords, the gigantic True Street category draws hundreds of street machines vying for the quickest average runs across a range of categories, and from those ranks, the quickest manual-transmission rides will square off in the Stick Shift Shootout. Plus, running alongside those classes for the first time in Orlando is the Female True Street, where the quickest Ford ladies compete.

And, of course, there will be a huge Manufacturer’s Midway and a sprawling used parts Swap Meet where Ford fans can find all the high-performance hardware for their project cars.
