NMRA Street Car Challenge Debut Set for Spring Break Shootout

Posted By: Steve Baur
The Holley NMRA Ford Nationals is proud to introduce the Street Car Challenge, a new category for 2021 with a debut during the Spring Break Shootout March 4-7, 2021 at Bradenton Motorsports Park. The Street Car Challenge will also be featured during the Ford Performance Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park (Norwalk, OH) June 10-13 and the NMRA World Finals + Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival at Beech Bend Raceway (Bowling Green, KY) September 30-October 3. The Street Car Challenge is a non-championship category that is aimed at attracting vehicles that don't fit into the regular line-up for Head-Up, Index, or QA1 True Street categories. The new Street Car Challenge category is designed to replace Turbo Battle and Terminator/Cobra vs. GT500 Shootout that we ran at select events over the last several years. It consolidates those two categories into one group and is also open to many other vehicles and combinations at any level, said Rollie Miller, General Manager and National Event Director for the Holley NMRA Ford Nationals. NMRA Street Car Challenge QA1 Mickey Thompson Street RacingThe rules are designed with little restrictions, allowing a wide variety of Mustangs and other Ford vehicles to participate during a national event with exceptional track prep and organized schedule. It is also inclusive of the vehicles that participated in the categories it is replacing, offering two types of competition opportunities on Sunday. The top 16 racers ranked using the qualifying rounds will be entered into a heads-up Quick 16 Round-Up while the other Street Car Challenge competitors are allowed to enter Bracket 3 at no charge. The Quick 16 Round-Up winner and runner-up are eligible for the NMRA Contingency program. Miller commented, We know there are a hardcore group of specialty class racers who like racing heads-up and this helps satisfy those racers but also gives more chances for enthusiasts to get involved in NMRA drag racing. The Holley NMRA Ford Nationals kicks off its 2021 season March 4-7 at Bradenton Motorsports Park with the Spring Break Shootout. It is the first of a six-event series that visits diverse and unique markets as the world's largest Ford motorsport event production.
