While Jeff Polivka was pounding pavement on the streets near his Gainesville, Virginia home in the Mustang Boss 302 he bought new in 2013, he decided that what he really wanted was to be pounding pavement on the strip alongside the consistently competitive NMRA ProCharger Coyote Modified contingent. So in the spring of 2015, he delivered the car to Dominic Cimino of DC Performance in Maryland to have it outfitted with a 25.3 cage and UPR chassis components, Waiting not-so-patiently to go under the hood was a slightly over 302 cubic-inch Coyote engine which Rich Groh Racing developed and built with Darton sleeves and an RGR block support system, and which JPC Racing finished assembling and installed. It was fronted with a 68mm turbo customized by Jose Zayas of Forced Inductions, and a Transmission Specialties-built Powerglide was chosen to handle things below the surface. AEM Performance Electronics Infinity engine management software was put into place, and JPC Racing was brought on to tune on the car which rolls on Mickey Thompson 275 ET Street Radial Pros. Polivka introduced the car and himself to ProCharger Coyote Modified at the final race of the NMRA season last October at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he laid down 8.30s, and a few weeks later, he jumped to 8.0s at the Haltech World Finals Import vs. Domestic at Maryland International Raceway. 
He picked up where he left off at the 22nd Annual Nitto NMRA Spring Break Shootout in March of 2016, where he laid down an 8.03 on his way to a semifinal finish. He went into the 8th Annual Borla NMRA/NMCA All Star Nationals in April at Atlanta Dragway hungry to get into the seven-second zone, and while he didn't achieve that, he ended up in the winner's circle. When class rules were changed recently to make room for a 76mm turbo, Polivka promptly swapped his 68mm turbo for a 76mm turbo customized by Jose Zayas of Forced Inductions and headed to the 16th Annual WyoTech NMRA Ford Motorsport Nationals, at the end of April. There, he qualified second with an 8.11 and 169 mph and blasted to his first seven-second pass, a 7.95 at 172, to win the first round of eliminations, and will finish the rain-shortened race at the 13th Annual NMRA Ford Super Nationals, June 9-12 at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. Wanting to further dial in the new turbo, especially for summer's warmer weather, he recently headed to a test session at Maryland International Raceway, where he drove to an incredible and personal best 174 mph, and while we wonder whether he drove to a personal best ET, too, he's not sharing that tidbit. It's been going great, and I definitely have great support from JPC and Eric Holliday, said Polivka, who recently welcomed Howard Brothers Paving as a sponsor and is currently second in ProCharger Coyote Modified points. With the switch to the 76mm turbo, we'll be able to be more competitive with all of the blower cars, and maybe we can even go for the championship.
