Rivera and Juggernaut Power to Enter Procharger Coyote Modified Ring

Posted By: Mary Lendzion
As the president of Juggernaut Power, Rey Rivera helps put people in the driver's seat of performance cars, but when the 2016 NMRA season begins, he'll be the one in the driver's seat of a performance car. His shop's 2015 Mustang, which was featured in Mickey Thompson's booth at SEMA in 2015, is being primed for its dragstrip debut in NMRA ProCharger Coyote Modified beginning with the 22nd Annual Nitto Spring Break Shootout, March 3-6, 2016 at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida. The car is currently at DMC Racing receiving a 25.5-spec chrome moly cage and chute mount, and soon, it will also receive its enhanced Coyote engine. Our engine-builder, Jerimiah Hussey of Modular Performance Solutions, has done some pretty trick stuff to the engine and has strengthened it quite a bit, too, said Rivera, who ran a 2-Valve-powered New Edge Mustang in NMRA Factory Stock in the early 2000s before his Army unit was deployed to Iraq. It can take a pretty substantial beating. Giving it extra kick will be a modified Vortech V-7. Vortech Superchargers has partnered with us, and they're anxious to see what that unit can do with our combination, said Rivera. It's somewhat of a test unit and a guinea pig unit, and we're excited about its potential. The car will roll on UPR suspension, Viking shocks and struts and a G-Force fully-built independent rear-suspension with a nine-inch housing, and it will stop with Baer brakes. Initially, Rivera will rely on an MT-82 manual transmission beefed up by Ben Calimer, as he has his sights set on becoming the first driver to have an eight-second car with a manual transmission in an independent rear-suspension car. People are going to give that a funny look, but we like that nobody has ever used that combination, and we're doing some work to strengthen it, said Rivera. After that, he said, he'll likely swap to the factory 6R80 automatic transmission, which Juggernaut Power is in the process of strengthening. The car had already been beat up pretty good on the street, mostly by me, and it will be good to see what it will do in a straight line, said Rivera, who plans to donate any money won racing to post-traumatic stress programs for military veterans in the Northeast. We're looking to run a competitive car throughout the season." Rivera 3As the supplier of turnkey performance-based S550 Mustangs, Juggernaut Power is based out of Bowen's Garage (www.Bowensgarageinc.com) in Eastford, Connecticut. Rivera's business partner, Jonathan Bowen, serves as the Operations and Track Vehicle Group Director, and the company is the presenting sponsor of the 16th Annual NMRA Ford Motorsport Nationals, April 28-May 1 at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pennsylvania.
