With the off-season coming to a close, we reached out to the NMRA failthfull to see what racers had in store for the upcoming season opener and the 2023 NMRA season. Chris Rusch responded, telling us about the upgrades to his familiar Orange Fury 2018 Mustang GT.

“I drive an Orange Fury 2018 Mustang GT stick shift in NMRA competition and I race in HP Tuners Super Stang,” said Rusch. “I'm finished in the 6th position during the 2022 season, and I consider that to be a great year. The second race, in Rockingham, I battled to the end for the win! In Norwalk, I made it into the Stick Shift Shootout. I maintained a top-three position in points until Bowling Green and that was exciting. Overall, it was a great first full season with the NMRA, while being in the hunt for a championship all the way to the last race of the season.”

He continued, “After a great season, I was fortunate enough to pick up a sponsorship with ESS Tuning, a supercharger company. That is what I've currently been working on, plus all supporting modifications, such as a Fore Innovations Level 2 return-style fuel system, Injector Dynamics ID1050X injectors, and Tuning support by Lund Racing. The process is taking longer than expected as I'm trying to keep the build clean with lots of out of the box techniques. I'm very excited to be attending the Spring Break Shootout and to see what I can do with my car. Hopefully, I can put this blown E85-fed, stick-shift Coyote into the DEEP 10-second zone!”
