The Paul’s High Performance Godzilla Invasion Presented by Willis Performance is in full swing today at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites, as the racers put their 7.3-liter engines to the test on the track and the car show participants vie for several specialty awards. Yesterday evening, participants, manufacturers, and sponsors celebrated the inaugural event with the Willis Performance Happy Hour. If you are on the property, check out all the cool parts and vehicles on display today at the Godzilla Invasion tent next to the car show.

After breaking his transmission’s input shaft, which took out the rest of the gearbox at the season opener, David Woodside turned to his father, Greg, to refresh the automatic and install a new valvebody from Dynamic in his ARP Open Comp Mercury Capri. After the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites this weekend, Woodside hopes to begin working on his father’s Thunderbird with an eye toward fielding a two-car, father-son team next season in Holley NMRA Ford Nationals competition.

This weekend at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites, machines powered by Ford’s 7.3-liter monster motor descended on Summit Motorsports Park for the Paul’s High Performance Godzilla Invasion Presented by Willis Performance. A case in point is Kevin Schweizer’s 1980 Mercury Zephyr, which is on the property running in that class, and Circle D Specialties True Street with his twin-turbo, Godzilla-powered wagon. He says a recent swap to an Indy Power Products oil pan setup was a game-changer that solved his oil pressure issues. With help from his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Lynnsie, Schweizer says he is creeping up on his 8.50 tune-up with the goal of taking the overall win in True Street today.

Initially, Dale Arnold only sought a nice street car, but Chris TIno offered his super-sano 2015 Mustang. The car was prepped and running in the SunCoast Performance 8.60 Street Race class. Having only owned the car for two weeks, Arnold is already making competitive hits in Holley NMRA Ford Nationals competition. He said it’s been a while since he drove a turbo car, as he’s been having fun with this Dodge Demon, which he ran in Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals competition.

Beautiful, 7.3-powered machines are participating in the Paul’s High Performance Godzilla Invasion Presented by Willis Performance this weekend at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites. A fine example is Chris Zukowski’s 1968 Mustang. Not only is it powered by a built Godzilla engine bolstered by quality parts from Brian Tooley Racing, Molnar, WIllis Performance, Wiseco, and more, but it is boosted by two VS Racing 78/75 mirror-image turbos. Under the control of a FuelTech 550 system, it pumps out more than four digits. Zukowski is working toward his competition license so he can flex the car’s full 9-second potential on the track.

It’s not just cars participating in the Paul’s High Performance Godzilla Invasion Presented by Willis Performance this weekend at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites. Troy Pryor brought his 7.3-swapped 1965 F-100 with the intention of showing it. However, after some peer pressure from fellow participants,  he joined the drag racing ranks where he ran a 12.6 at 112 mph despite limited traction. The engine in his truck is largely stock but wears a Ford Performance intake and throttle body. It is backed by a TREMEC 3650 transmission built by Ben Callimer. Pryor performed the swap because he wanted something different, and says he is glad he made that choice.

While Gaby Lujan has been piloting her 1993 Mustang in SunCoast Performance 8.60 Street Race, a dropped valve has her car parked for a bit, so this weekend, she is behind the wheel of her father Willie Lujan’s 1990 Mustang out of Lujan Motorsports in Miami, Florida. Gaby is comfortable in her father’s car since it’s the one she began racing in, and with a 363 cubic-inch engine with a Vortech YSi under the hood, she is ready for SunCoast Performance 8.60 Street Race and Tremec All-Female True Street.

Aaron Worstell is sitting in fourth-place in Vengeance Clutch Coyote Stock, and he is working toward moving up a spot or two at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming presented by Anderson Composites & Saturday TransTec Thrill Festival this weekend at Summit Motorsports Park. Worstell recently tried to settle the wheelies in his car motivated by a Gen III Coyote engine and G-Force Transmissions’ G101A, but he discovered in the process that his car puts up better elapsed times when it starts its pass with a wheelie. “We are currently making some adjustments to our Strange shocks to get us back to where we need to be,” said Worstell. “The field is always tight, but it is especially tight this weekend.”

The Holley NMRA Ford Nationals series is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang all season long. As part of that, the BMR Suspension S650 Mustang Stampede ran today at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites. Terry “Beefcake” Reeves blasted to the win on the merits of a 9.85 at 143 mph rip.

One of the most popular people on the property today is Clarence Barnes, who is the master of ceremonies for the NMRA Fan Experience. Integrated into the car show field, the Fan Experience offers a spin-to-win wheel and corn hole toss in which the winners walk away with seen Holley NMRA Ford Nationals swag, like shirts, hats, license plates, lanyards, and decals. Those waiting in line also have a great view of the BIGFOOT car crush that is part of today’s Transtec Thrill Festival at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites.

So many beautiful Blue Oval machines are on display today in the UPR Products Car Show at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites and TransTec Thrill Festival. From Total Performance-era muscle machines to the latest Mustang, there is something for every Ford enthusiast to enjoy as part of the Holley NMRA Ford Nationals series action this weekend at Summit Motorsports Park.

Today’s TransTec Thrill Festival amps up the excitement at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites with a variety of spectacles from BIGFOOT car crushes to FMX Motocross Stunt Shows. Early in the afternoon, those two worlds crossed over as the Motocross rides leaped over the World’s Largest BIGFOOT monster truck, which was a high-flying sight to behold.

Leticia Hughes is a respected racer, and for good reason. She works hard and she wins, all while putting her heart and soul into her program. With TKM Performance and Whipple supercharger power on board her Mustang, along with a Turbo 400 by Whatever It Takes Transmissions and converter by Circle D Specialties, the Kentuckian is qualified in the eighth spot out of 24 racers with an 8.62, proving she is dialed in for the SunCoast Performacne 8.60 Street Race class. “We had been fighting a few issues, but my car has been running close to 8.60 all weekend, so we are happy with that,” said Hughes. “Now I am just going to focus on lining up, going down track as close to 8.60 as I can and taking it one round at a time. I am happy to have support from TransTec, What It Take Transmissions, Raybestos, Circle D Specialties, and my family."

Longtime Holley NMRA Ford Nationals racer Larry Firestone, who is sitting just outside of the top 10 in HP Tuners Super Stang, is fighting some issues in his 5R55 Transmission as it is slipping into third gear. When we caught up with him in his pit area, he was under his car working on it, and he hopes to have it sorted out in time for the first round of eliminations today. Firestone, who usually clocks lows 11s, is qualified in the third spot with an .014 reaction time out of 13 cars, with a 281 cubic-inch engine by Brenspeed and a Roush supercharger.

Tom Hoffman is hauling in his Mustang with a 427 cubic-inch engine from Holbrook Racing Engines, and in addition to Chris Holbrook, he credits much of that to fellow racer Rick Riccardi. Over winter, Riccardi, with an assist from Marc Poldino at Redeye Racecars, replaced the 8.50-certified mild steel rollcage in Hoffman’s car with an 8.50-certified chrome moly rollcage, and replaced his previous steel floorboards with new steel floorboards, along with the required bar from the front pillar to the back pillar, among a lot of other work. Hoffman, who competes in ARP Open Comp, could not be happier with the results. “At our race at Rockingham Dragway last month, I ran a 9.611, 9.619, 9.613 and 9.615 in a row, and I haven’t had that kind of consistency before,” said Hoffman. “I owe a lot to Ricky, who continues to help me with the car.” Hoffman, who has been running 9.70s, is currently qualified in the seventh spot with a .005 reaction time at the Mickey Thompson NMRA Ford Homecoming presented by Anderson Composites & Saturday TransTec Thrill Festival, and has his sights set on the winner’s circle.

The Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels NMRA Ford Homecoming Presented by Anderson Composites is a MASSIVE success with Holley NMRA Ford Nationals fans enjoying a Blue Oval slugfest on the track, a 60th Anniversary Mustang bonanza, and an amazing TransTec Thrill Festival with Jet Cars, BIGFOOT car crushes, FMX stunt shows and more!
