Steve Long Named General Manager at National Trail Raceway in Columbus

Posted By: Scott Sparrow
Steve Long has joined National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio as the General Manager. With experience as the lead starter at National Trail Raceway and a background of drag racing operations along with experience in management and team building, Long brings decades of experience that will prove very helpful in the redevelopment of National Trail Raceway. I am personally very excited to welcome Steve to our management team. Having only known him for a brief time, I instantly realized Steve will do an outstanding job and will be a fantastic addition to our company, said Scott Gardner, Chief Operating Officer Prior to joining the National Trail Raceway team, Long was a Business Development Manager and Sales Coach and worked at select NHRA events. I was 11 years old when I first went to National Trail Raceway and I was hooked. When I turned sixteen I started racing there off and on for many years. Thirteen years ago, I became a part-time employee and never thought that an opportunity like this would happen. This is my dream job! I can't wait to work with the dedicated staff and together we will all work towards the betterment of National Trail Raceway said Long. Long is married to wife Sam and has two children a daughter Danielle and son Kevin. Long replaces long-time Manager Mike Fornataro who will serve as a consultant during this transitional period. Fornataro has accepted a position outside of drag racing. I've been with National Trail Raceway nearly 15 years, and employed in drag racing for over 20. The sport, the customers on both sides of the wall, and the Raceway mean more to me than a place to draw a paycheck. I was at this track the first time when I was 5 years old. It's been an honor to have been on the very short list of Raceway Managers in NTR's 53-year history and I look forward to assisting Steve Long through the transition as he adds his name to that list said Fornataro. Long begins his new position June 26.
