With the closure of the Atlanta Dragway, it was time for NMRA and NMCA to move onto a new location for the 14th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals presented by MAHLE Motorsport Car Show. That new spot is Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina.

Affectionately known as The Rock, this storied played host to exciting drag racing action on the track and a host of other displays, including a healthy Manufacturer’s Midway and the car show, the NMRA side of which is sponsored by UPR Products.

Hosted by the Unstabled Mates Mustang club, the show attracted plenty of pony cars, but there were other beautiful rides on the property as well. All were vying for awards, and on these pages, we highlight several of the deserving winners.

Rising above the competition to capture the coveted Best of Show honors, Randall Snider’s Jalapeno Red 1985 Mustang GT did so on the merits of a full suite of modifications. Powered by a 408-inch Windsor fortified by MAHLE pistons, Eagle rods, and a COMP camshaft, the four-eyed Fox balances show car flash with plenty of performance. Its ProCharger P-1SC delivers 13 pounds of boost to the Holley carburetor atop an Edelbrock intake. The engine obviously makes sweet music, but if that is not enough, Snider’s ride is fitted with a full Alpine sound system as well.

The Unstabled Mates Mustang Club deserves our appreciation for hosting this year’s car show at Rockingham Dragway.

Thanks to a smattering of billet upgrades, a custom battery cover, and a Vortech supercharger, the Four-Valve 4.6-liter V8 under the hood of George & Carolyn Detty’s 1998 Steeda Mustang took home Best Engine honors.

Sprayed in a dazzling green hue, Derrick Harp’s 1972 Maverick was an obvious pick for the Best Paint award in Rockingham, but that wasn’t the end of its accomplishments. The nicely detailed ride, which hails from Lithia Springs, Georgia, also took home the Directors Choice Modified and Best Falcon, Fairlane, Maverick honors as well.

Making the short trip over from Aberdeen, North Carolina, Barbara Richardson’s 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner collected the Best Chrysler honors at the 14th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals presented by MAHLE Motorsport.

Our own Jim Campisano appreciated Phillip Page’s 1973 Corvette Stingray, which rumbled away with the Best GM Muscle award in Rockingham.

With beautiful weather all weekend long, it was a great time to drop the top and cruise out to the 14th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals presented by MAHLE Motorsport. That’s just what Brandon Smith did with his 1965 Mustang. He drove home to Cameron North Carolina, with the Best Ford Muscle award.

Before the festivities concluded each day at the 14th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals presented by MAHLE Motorsport, the winners gathered to take possession of their awards.
