WEATHER UPDATE: Whipple Superchargers NMRA World Finals and Holley Ford Festival Adjust Event Schedule Due to Impending Sunday Weather

Posted By: Mike Galimi
With weather predicted to impact Sunday’s festivities, the NMRA Officials made the quick decision to modify the racing schedule for the Whipple Superchargers NMRA World Finals Presented by Competition Clutch + Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival at Beech Bend Raceway by condensing the drag racing action to Friday and Saturday. Racing will begin 30 minutes earlier than normal with the gates opening at 7:30AM and on-track action beginning promptly at 8:30AM on Friday morning. The Index categories will get one time trial followed by 3 rounds of qualifying on Friday. The Heads-Up classes, including Mickey Thompson Street Car Challenge Presented by Whipple Superchargers, will get 3 Qualifying runs on Friday and QA1 True Street is scheduled for 3 time trials. All eliminations will be begin on Saturday, including the MSD Ignition Bracket Open, QA1 True Street, Index and Heads-Up, and other special Ford Festival drag classes. A detailed schedule will be posted on Friday. ALL CHAMPIONSHIP CATEGORIES must be tech'd in before the gate closes on Friday. QA1 True Street is set to run as scheduled on Saturday with the 30-mile cruise and trio of passes, weather and time permitting. The goal is to run the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout in its intended format. In the event of weather or time constraints, the NMRA officials will award the winner and runner-up prizes and bonus money to the stick shift car’s final True Street average that is closest to his or her time category. For example, an 11.05-second final True Street average would beat a 10.06 final True Street average since it is closer to 11.00 than the 10.06 is to 10.00. The MSD Ignition Bracket Open will be run on Saturday with 1 time trial in the morning and go directly into eliminations. NMRA Officials have declared that the rain policy for Qualifying stands as 4 qualifying runs were set on the schedule prior to the event. Any competitor (that passes tech) who fails to take the tree during the scheduled three qualifying rounds will be automatically inserted at the bottom of the ladder using the procedure as outlined in the NMRA rulebook. ALL CHAMPIONSHIP CATEGORIES must be tech'd in before the gate closes on Friday.
