The ProMedia team is sad to report the passing of Barry Shepard at 83. Barry was a long-time drag racer from the Detroit area who set several IHRA national records, competed in many Ford events, including NMRA, and was the 1999 Fun Ford Weekend world championship in the Modular Motor category.
 

The event on June 9-11 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio will celebrate everything from track and series anniversaries to amazing on-track action.

The NMRA and NMCA family lost a great friend and champion racer, as Don Bowles Sr. has died at the age of 83. Bowles was the NMRA 2009 Hot Street world champion driving his familiar “Coal Digger” Ford Maverick.

Ford Performance recently unveiled the continued evolution of its electric-powered motorsports efforts with the Mustang Super Cobra Jet 1800, an aggressive revision to the NHRA world record-holding Mustang Cobra Jet 1400. It is targeted to best the Cobra Jet 1400’s standing world record for full-bodied electric vehicles in the quarter-mile, 8.128 seconds at 171.97 miles per hour. 

We reached out to several of them to ask what they are looking forward to, and what they hope to achieve at the track affectionately known as The Rock.

With great sadness NMRA learned our good friend, Dallas Jones, 82, of Bowling Green, Ky. has passed away. Dallas was a true giant in the sport of drag racing and a supporter of NMRA and NMCA since the very beginning.
