This has been the scene for the past few days at Route 66 Raceway as they prepare for three days of excessive drag racing. On the left is Tyler Crossnoe of the Dream Team Traction Consulting and on the right is Kurt Johnson of Total Venue Concepts. They have scraped and washed the starting line and will begin dragging and spraying as hundreds of competitors are filing into the pits for the 11th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street legal Drag Racing.
John Urist is on the property with his brand-new 2015 Mustang GT and is hoping to get on track tomorrow when racing begins. The Hellion Racing team just came from Turn 14 Distribution open house, the title sponsor his racecar. Behind Bars Race Cars built a 25.3 chassis under the S550 body and added a four-link rear suspension. Also new is a turbocharged MMR Coyote 5.0 engine that he borrowed from teammate Haley James and MMR is finishing a billet-block 5.0 engine for the new ride. Stay tuned to the weekend updates with more photos and images of the car as well as a full-spread feature on it in Race Pages.
