For the final time, the Holley NMRA Ford Nationals and NMCA Muscle Car Nationals series join forces for a weekend at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia. Today the 13th Annual Scoggin Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals Presented by MAHLE Motorsport gets underway with a full battery of time-trial runs across all the classes. The festivities come to a close with the Weldon High Performance Racer Appreciation Happy Hour. Here's a rundown of today's activities on the first day of the 13th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals Presented by MAHLE Motorsport.

As today's action winds down, racers, family, crew, sponsors, media, and vendors gather to enjoy a beverage or two and some snacks courtesy of Weldon High Performance.

Edelbrock Renegade racer Eric Bardekoff is trying out a number of new things this weekend, including a new supercharger spacer, and a few torque converters. The chassis fabricator and painter from New York is hoping for 4.50s this weekend from his Whipple-supercharged, S550 Mustang. Every day at the racetrack is a good day according to Jimmy LaRocca, who long with his teammate Tommy Annunziata, are competing in Edlebrock Renegade with their 2014 Whipple-supercharged Cobra Jet Mustang, Jessica 2.0. Annunziata, who drove the PHL Racing Team's Cobra Jet to the 2017 ProCharger Coyote Modified championship, continues with the wheelman duties while LaRocca continues his part as chief tuner.

By now you know that Kevin Sanders had an exciting race in Bradenton, as his Boogey Lights-backed Fox Mustang sheared off the wheel studs and sent a rear wheel rolling down the track. Fortunately the brake rotor still spun freely and the car rolled to a halt with minimal damage. By the time he hauled it back to the pits, fellow racers donated the parts to get it back up and running, and he made it back into competition. This weekend at Atlanta Dragway he is running the same setup, but he plans to add larger studs to his ARP Open Comp ride soon.

Fresh for this season Johnny Rusch installed a new powerplant in his familiar, yellow Exedy Racing Clutch Modular Muscle machine. He swapped the happy-colored 2006 Mustang's tired Three-Valve 4.6-liter in favor of a Ford Performance sealed Gen 3 Coyote 5.0-liter engine complete with the Coyote Stock-spec calibration. Installed by Mike Bowen, it is fed by an Aeromotive fuel system and exhales through Kooks headers. His yellow S197 has run a best of 10.70 so far, but he hopes to improve on that this weekend at the 13th Annual Scoggin Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals Presented by MAHLE Motorsport.

Eighteen-year-old Maddie Espeut definitely caught the racing bug from her father, Pete. She traded her Jeep for a pickup so she could haul her 2012 Mustang GT to the track. Last season was her first competing in ROUSH Performance Super Stang and she placed in the 10th spot of the final points. She hopes to return to the Top 10 again this season. Currently her S197 is stock save for a custom SCT tune and a cold-air intake. Her best elapsed time so far is 12.15 seconds.
