Gear-Bangers Brawl In The TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout at the NMRA World Finals + Holley Ford Fest

As NMRA’s 25th Anniversary season closes out in grand style at the Whipple Superchargers NMRA World Finals Presented by Scott's Trailer Sales Featuring the Holley Ford Festival, eight masters of the manual transmission will rise from the Circle D Specialties True Street ranks to compete in the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout.

“Racing with a manual transmission is the ultimate test of man and machine, and we love that TREMEC is rewarding the skills of these drivers,” said Steve Wolcott, Co-Founder of NMRA. “Seeing these stick-shift racers battle it out on the final day of the season is always a highlight.”

Culled from the eight-quickest manual-transmission machines running in the popular True Street class, the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout competitors run in a Quick 8 elimination on Sunday. The racer names are announced during the True Street awards ceremony. Each entry in the Shootout earns custom TREMEC awards just for making the cut, while the winner and runner-up drive away with new hardware and product certificates courtesy of McLeod Racing.

Rules for the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout are straightforward. A street-type manual transmission is required, though the transmission can include race-oriented modifications such as face-plated or pro-shifted gears. The transmission must also be hand-operated via a single shift handle. Transmissions with multiple levers and/or air/electronic/hydraulic actuation are not allowed. The Quick 8 cars are randomly paired in the lanes before each round and the racers will compete with a staggered start based on their True Street average. There will be no breakout on the top end, allowing racers to stay wide-open and not hold back at the finish line, which enhances the excitement for racers and spectators alike.
