NMRA Announces TREMEC 2020+ Shelby GT500 Shootout in Ohio at Ford Performance Nationals

The Holley NMRA Ford Nationals is hosting the TREMEC 2020+ Shelby GT500 Shootout during the Ford Performance Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park over the weekend of June 9-12, 2022. Designed to bring out the quickest 2020-2022 Shelby GT500 vehicles, there is $4,900 in total purse and prizes up for grabs thanks for TREMEC, Ford Performance, Holley, Simpson, Mickey Thompson, HP Tuners, and more coming soon!

Ford released its most prolific specialty Mustang with the 2020 Shelby GT500 and it immediately captivated the community with 10-second times off the showroom floor and its easy response to bolt-on modifications. The category is open to any VIN-verified 2020 through 2022 Shelby GT500 and the class rules can be found HERE. The NHRA safety rules are in effect and allow vehicles with fully functioning factory safety equipment and proper driver equipment to run as quick as 9.00 or 150 mph. Aftermarket roll bars will infringe on the operation of factory safety systems and competitors should contact the NMRA Tech department at [email protected] with any questions about the safety requirements for their vehicle.

The guaranteed purse is currently sitting at $4,900 thanks to some incredible cash and prizes from many manufacturers—led by TREMEC Transmissions—and the payouts go all the way back to the quarterfinals. The winner walks away with $750 as well as a $1,000 product certificate from Ford Performance, $500 product certificate from Holley, $200 gift card from TREMEC for use on its online store, $300 from HP Tuners, and a pair of Mickey Thompson drive tires! The runner-up gets $500 while both semifinalists pocket $250 and the quarterfinalists get $100 each.

The NMRA Ford Performance Nationals is held June 9-12, 2022 at the renowned racing facility known as Summit Motorsports Park, which is located in Norwalk, Ohio. The event features the biggest line-up of drag racing categories for an NMRA event in 2022. In addition to the championship heads-up and index categories are the TREMEC GT500 Shootout, All-Female True Street Presented by Baer Brakes, SunCoast Performance 8.60 Street Race, TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout, and the Mickey Thompson Tires Grudge Test & Tune eliminators. And let’s not forget the biggest class in the NMRA with the booming TorqStorm Superchargers True Street challenge. The action off the track is just as super-sized in the UPR Products Car Show with its once-a-year Ring of Fire, an exclusively judged showcase of vehicles, along with a classic look added by a regional Ford Model T club.
