NMRA & NMCA Mourn the Loss of Judy Bergstrom

Dear friends and supporters of NMRA and NMCA racing, Judy Bergstrom passed away over the weekend with her husband, Gene, at her side. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gene and Godspeed to our beloved Judy.

Judy began her career in drag racing with Gene in 1980 supporting NHRA events around the U.S. and she was dedicated to the sport for over 20 years. She and Gene joined the NMRA and NMCA teams in 2004, with Judy handling various roles including gate manager, Power Mall manager and mentoring staff members of all ages.

Judy’s easy smile and fun personality were magnets that attracted hundreds of friends from within our racing family. She continued with NMRA and NMCA through the middle of the 2019 and supported Gene as he continued his work with both series through the end of 2023.

Judy was fiercely proud of her husband, Gene, and what they accomplished in their careers working for NHRA and, later NMRA and NMCA. NMRA and NMCA were thrilled to have Judy in Indianapolis this past December where each series honored Gene on his retirement and hosted a special dinner with close family and friends in their honor. Stories were told, laughter reigned supreme and there were lots of hugs and photos with dear friends who Judy and Gene touched throughout their careers.

Please join us in praying for Judy as she joins so many of our loved ones in Heaven and, of course, for her devoted and loving husband, Gene, and the entire Bergstrom family as they mourn the loss of their beloved Judy. NMRA and NMCA are honored Judy and Gene chose our series and family of racers as their home for upwards of 20 years.
