Parisi Returning to NMRA Roush Performance Super Stang

Posted By: Mike Galimi
After earning championships in NMRA Roush Performance Super Stang in 2009 and 2010 in his 2007 and 2010 Roush Mustangs, Chris Parisi stepped away from the series and focused on racing locally. When he returned in 2016, he committed to the NMRA's new Race Pages Ford Muscle category rather than his familiar friend, Roush Performance Super Stang, and in his Steeda-suspended 2007 Mustang powered by a 4.0 V6, he rode through the rounds at the events in Florida in March, Georgia in April where he won and Pennsylvania in May. Then, he purchased a Guard Green 2016 Mustang and wound up in the winner's circle in Race Pages Ford Muscle, True Street and Bracket 3 at the event in Ohio in June, before going on'to win with a 14.00-second average in QA1 and Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords True Street and runner-up in Race Pages Bracket 3 at the event in Illinois in July. Then, at the NMRA World Finals in Kentucky in October, I did the math and figured out I wouldn't be able to catch Danny Towe for the championship in Ford Muscle, so I went ahead and ran Super Stang, said Parisi, who had planned to turn his 2007 Mustang over to his son, Alex, before it was hit by a driver who pulled out in front of Alex in June and'deemed a total loss. I miss that class. It felt good to run it again, and it felt good to win. Now, Parisi, who finished second in 2016 Race Pages Ford Muscle points and was named the 2016 NMRA Driver of the Year at the NMRA awards ceremony at the Indianapolis Convention Center in December, plans to return to Roush Performance Super Stang in 2017 and take part in each event. His car, which was laying down consistent fourteens with a 3.7 V6, features a BBK Performance 73mm throttle body and Steeda cold air intake, plus MagnaFlow exhaust and BBK Performance longtube headers and high-flow catalytic converters. A JMS PedalMAX system helps enhance throttle response in the car which rolls on Steeda suspension and Mickey Thompson Performance Tires wrapped around JMS Avenger wheels. Tony Gonyon at Tuners, Inc. uses an SCT X4 for tuning, and a Compucar nitrous kit is at the ready. It was fun running multiple classes in 2016, but I'm going to focus on Super Stang in 2017 and try to earn a third championship in the category, said Parisi. I'll also run Bracket 3, but I might not run True Street. We'll see. I'm just going to take it one round at a time, and concentrate on the lights and staying ahead of the car next to me at the finish line. Parisi, who lives in Florida, will begin his quest with the 23rd Annual Nitto NMRA Spring Break Shootout, March 2-5, 2017 at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida. I'd like to thank Steeda, JMS, Tuners, Inc, BBK Performance, SCT, Shaftmasters, Compucar, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires, MagnaFlow, Southside KIA Jax, Zook Design, Racer Walsh, the Decal Shop and Yusen Logistics for all their support," said Parisi. I'd also like to give a special big thanks to my primary sponsor, bestbet Poker, Simulcast and Racing."
