The Ruby Red stunner came from the showroom floor with a stock 5.0 engine and manual transmission, but was stripped of its carpet, seats, dash, steering column and sound deadening materials in time for its date this week with TRZ Motorsports in Florida. There, specialists will give it a 25.3 cage and determine whether to utilize the car's IRS suspension or move to a live axle. Meanwhile, Starkey and her husband, Justin Starkey, owner VMP Tuning and Superchargers, are mulling over powerplant, power-adder and transmission options, but will stay with a Coyote-based combination, as she wants to remain in NMRA ProCharger Coyote Modified. The car, which went from 3800 pounds to 3080 pounds after being stripped, will roll on Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Pros. Starkey, who posted a best of 8.95 at 153 mph in her 2011 Mustang, has her sights set on a jump to high sevens in her 2015 Mustang, but she might have to wait a few months to get there, as the mother of four is seven months pregnant and expecting right around the time of the 2016 season-opening 22nd Annual Nitto NMRA Spring Break Shootout, which is March 3-6 at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida.
