Street Bandit 10.10 Class Prepares for Debut In Bowling Green

It’s time for the Whipple Superchargers NMRA World finals including heads-up and index drag racing, drifting exhibitions from Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Chelsea DeNofa, plus autocross, BIGFOOT monster trucks, Off-Road Experience, jet cars, Australian-style burnout contests, car show, dyno shootouts and more!

In addition, the Whipple Superchargers NMRA World Finals and Holley Intergalactic Ford Festival at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky. will also see the roll-out of Street Bandit 10.10 presented by Whatever it Takes Transmission Parts.

Patterned after the very successful Suncoast 8.60 Street Race class, Street Bandit 10.10 is designed for street-legal Ford and Ford-powered entries, which allows racers to compete heads-up on the quarter-mile in a single-index class for a shot at cash and a coveted NMRA Victor trophy.

“From the thriving True Street class to the red-hot 8.60 Street Race category, blazing-fast street machines are among the hottest race cars in our series,” said Steve Wolcott, co-Founder of NMRA. “With that in mind, we’re offering a fresh class open to the large group of racers with 9- and 10-second race cars that aren’t built specifically for an existing category. That class is Street Bandit 10.10, which will be presented by Whatever It Takes Transmission Parts.”

The exciting new eliminator will be a feature of the Whipple Superchargers NMRA World Finals. The rules are straight-forward with an aim toward street-legal vehicles (license plate, proof of current registration, valid insurance and DOT tires required).

The format includes a fixed 10.10-second index and a .400 Pro Tree, making it a perfect fit for the many racers who compete in the Circle D Specialties True Street category at NMRA Races. Street Bandit 10.10 will debut as a “feature” class, meaning regular NMRA competitors can race in both Street Bandit and one other NMRA class. That won’t be the case next year when Street Bandit 10.10 becomes a part of the regular NMRA championship class structure.

“We’ve seen a surge in the popularity of our street-oriented classes in NMRA,” said Rollie Miller, General Manager & National Event Director of NMRA. “Our new Street Bandit 10.10 class caters to a large group of street-legal Ford racers where the potential for participants is strong and this will bring even more excitement to NMRA.”

Paired by chip draw for eliminations, Street Bandit 10.10 competitors will run for $1,000 winner’s purse, $400 to the runner-up, $125 to semifinalists, and $50 to quarterfinalists. While there is no contingency available at this year’s Bowling Green event, Street Bandit 10.10 will be added as a championship category in the 2024 contingency program.

A number of NHRA regulars, including Super Stang racer Chris Rusch and Coyote Stock driver Matt Flint are expected to enter the inaugural Street Bandit 10.10 class this weekend in Bowling Green.
