This weekend, both series return to US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, for the 2nd Annual Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA Power Festival Presented by TorqStorm Superchargers. In addition to the championship heads-up and index drag racing, this event features several special events that up the high-performance ante for fans and participants alike.
Tom Bailey is bringing out his Sick the Mag Drag & Drive Invitational wherein Drag Week-style cars compete heads-up on the racetrack. Additionally, an RTRA series heads-up X275 points race will run within the event, and not one, but two Factory Appearing Stock Tire classes showcase period-correct muscle machines on stock tires.
It all kicks off today with a full slate of test and tune passes across all the categories. And, as the on-track action winds down, the racers, family, crew, sponsors, media, and vendors gather for the Weldon Pump Racer Appreciation Happy Hour from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. to enjoy chilled beverages, music, and snacks.

Here’s a look at how the action will unfold at the 2nd Annual Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA Power Festival Presented by TorqStorm today.
After debuting his G-Force Racing Transmissions Coyote Stock ride at the last event, Jason Dietsch is on the property with that car and his Holley EFI Factory Super Cars Cobra Jet. He is still learning the ins and outs of racing in the stick-shift Coyote Stock ranks, but he is really enjoying the change of pace. He says driving this car is much busier and you have to really bang the gears to get down the track. Since the last event, he switched to a hinged hood, an electric water pump, an aluminum fuel tank, and a lower fuel pump mounting. More upgrades to the brakes and rearend are in the works after the event, but he still hopes to improve his standings in the class this weekend with the current setup.
VP Racing Fuels is on the property at the 2nd Annual Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA Power Festival Presented By TorqStorm Superchargers to ensure racers have plenty of high-octane go juice to get through the weekend’s competition.
Having not raced since the St. Louis event, Amanda Saad rolled her Ranger up to the starting line and promptly ripped off a .000 light. That skill should serve this racer well as her 1983 Ranger rolls into Detroit Locker Truck & Lightning qualifying. She did have to do a bit of trackside improvising as her truck’s valve cover breathers wanted to weep some oil, so socks and zip-ties became the simple solution for the truck that picked up where it left off.
Racers, family, crew, sponsors, media, and vendors closed out Thursday’s festivities at the Weldon Pump Racer Appreciation Happy Hour with ice-cold beverages, music, snacks, and camaraderie.
