NMRA Introduces IDIDIT Performance King of the Street Program for 2019

Posted By: Mike Galimi

The question of the ages has always been Who is the King (or Queen) of the Street and the NMRA Ford Nationals is looking to find out. New-for-2019 is the IDIDIT Performance King of the Street and the winner will be crowned during the Nitto Tire NMRA All-Ford World Finals in a special 8-car heads-up eliminator at Beech Bend Raceway (Bowling Green, KY) the weekend of September 26-29, 2019.

There is only way to enter the exclusive eight-car field for the King of the Street eliminator as competitors will need to race their way into the field. NMRA and IDIDIT Performance representatives will present invitations at each stop on the tour, which will include the six QA1 True Street Overall winners and the victors of the JLT Performance Spring Break Shootout and Gateway Rumble in 2019.

Race-by-race the ladder for the IDIDIT Performance King of the Street will be filled up with the drama culminating on Saturday of the NMRA World Finals, which is the biggest Mustang motorsports event of the year. It will be the final race for the final spot on the ladder of Sunday's King of the Street competition. The King of the Street winner will walk away with $2,500, plus an IDIDIT Performance steering package that includes column of choice and removable steering wheel hub valued around $1,000, other prizes, a prestigious Victor award, and a celebration in the Aerospace Components Winner's Circle.

There have been dozens of organizations and outlaw promoters that have thrown street car challenges in the last 30-some-odd years to determine who has the baddest street car. Through all of it, the NMRA QA1 True Street category is the longest running and most popular one, says Rollie Miller, General Manager and National Event Director of the NMRA Ford Nationals. We wanted to create a prestigious street car event from our True Street ranks and the IDIDIT Performance King of the Street accomplishes that goal.

In the instance that one racer owns more than one invitation, NMRA officials will use the NMRA World Finals QA1 True Street results as the alternate list, working their way down to ensure all 8 positions are filled for Sunday's heads-up competition.

The first two opportunities to earn an invitation to the IDIDIT Performance King of the Street happens February 28-March 1, 2019 at Bradenton Motorsports Park for the Nitto Tire NMRA Spring Break Shootout. Race officials will present King of the Street certificates to the Overall winner of the QA1 True Street challenge on Saturday and the victor in the heads-up JLT Performance Spring Break Shootout competition on Sunday.
